Examples of Designs by Hullform Users

A Canoe, USA-244, by John Kells. He writes:

"The boat was designed using your software to the proposed development rule that with class approval will return the IC to a true development class. I found the software reasonably intuitive, but it took some time to learn how to manipulate the program to generate the shapes that I was looking for. The all up weight less sails is 48.7 kg. I will need to bring some lead with me to put on the boat.

PDF's of the design files and photographs of the construction process are posted at www.intcanoe.us

To help defray the cost of the build and shipping, I am looking into the possibility of offering advertizing space for sponsors. With the class looking to move toward a devlopment rulle, and the significant number of home builders in the class, this may be an opportunity to target a small group of potential customers. If you have any interest, please feel free to contact me."

By Oli Salmela, of Finland, a nice shot of his design "Queen Albatross 1120 Vauhdissa" at speed.
Another Oli Salmela design, "Naviga 1080".
One by the author, just for fun - and to show that Hullform can handle some pretty "unusual" shapes
A novel catamaran design by Ian Smith of the UK. See his web site for a goldmine of interesting yacht research items and links.
"Hammer", a 30' foam-core planing hull by Ron White, ready for fibreglassing. Designed using Hullform 7G.

See Ron's Web site for more details (and photo's of the final product).

Kayak by Hans Friedel - strip-built, 5.2m by 0.56m, all-round cruising kayak.

(It's hard to better a quality wooden hull for looks)

Hans is contactable at Trapper Kanot AB.

Inshore rescue craft by Frans X Liebenberg, Cape Town, South Africa. He quotes -

"This is a rescue craft for the National Sea Rescue Institute of South Africa, station 9, Gordons' Bay, near Cape Town.

The boat is for rescues in shallow reef waters and in breaking waves. The boat is powered by a 210 hp Steyr 6 cyl diesel engine, driving a Hamilton 235 water jet. Full displacement with 5 crew is approx 1800kg. We could only manage a couple of runs in the harbour but the boat gets up on the plane easily".

RIB by Frans X Liebenberg, of Cape Town. Frans quotes "This 8.5m boat was rush built for the Cape Town Boat Show in 3 weeks. The design paper drawing, hf8 lines fairing and plate development were done in 3 days. The hull was developed from 3 lines only. The upper works were done by the boat builder himself. Note the igloo style rounded cabin".
"Santiam" - model yacht designed using Hullform by Lorenz Siggel. (Yes, that's him in the photo, and Heidelberg Castle in the background)
Lorenz Siggel's second Hullform yacht, heeled heavily. Note that the hull is sailing evenly (stem base close to waterline, not plunging). The designer made some interesting comments on this - check here .
"They don't make 'em like that any more - fortunately" - one by Hullform's author - just to prove that Hullform can do nasty keels too.
